As much as I appreciate the nominees, and all of the hard work they put into these films.. the dresses might be my favorite (pre)- Oscar time. I saw a lot of gold, are they trying to dress like awards?! One dress that really stood out was Ireland Baldwin’s. Some may say a red dress on a red carpet will clash, not for Ireland. It was the perfect shade of burgundy, designed by Burberry. The dress may not be THAT special, but i thought it was a great risk to take. Especially with the leg slit, bringing back memories of Angelina Jolie..but Ireland pulls it off much better.
I liked seeing the mix of winter and spring colors during this transition time. One of my favorites of the night was Lupita Nyong’o, in custom Prada. This blue was absolutely perfect for her skin tone. She said, “It’s a blue that reminds me of Nairobi, and so I wanted to have a little bit of home.”, I thought that was sweet. I LOVED the deep v-neck and low cut sides. I also thought the headband brought on a much younger look.
Next on my list was Portia de Rossi. She was wearing one of my favorite designers, Naeem Khan. It was beautiful cream with flowery, abstract like cutouts. I don’t know about you, but it reminded me of spring. (:
Sally Hawkins was in Valentino. Once I saw the dress up close, I noticed the magnificent beading of pearls and gold crystals. I awed in amazement.
Can I borrow these for prom? (;
